Tonight I did something I’ve been thinking about doing for months now. I sucked it up, ate some leftovers for dinner, and went out at 8pm to play an Open Mic on a weeknight.
The round I played was me and a slew of old time country gentlemen. (Who were all very nice by the way!)
Because I’m myself, I kicked things off with some random technical difficulties. But once I started playing things fell into place nicely. Post round I got asked for business cards and my music site (it doesn’t exist), and received lots of compliments from strangers who repeatedly asked what my name was. So that was pretty cool.
But the biggest thing I came away with? I felt accomplished that I did something I promised myself I would do. And it reminded me there are people who care what I do and think I’m pretty okay at it. And that felt awesome.
I’m proud of myself for finally taking one of my bigger goals by the reigns, and I’m excited to keep at it, get better at playing (again), and maybe meet some interesting people along the way.
What do you love doing that you’re also a little afraid of?
What do you never make time for that brings you happiness when you do?
I challenge ya’ll to take some risks today and do it anyway.
Then get at me when you do and let me know how it goes. 😉
